Important Site Locations
Emergency Meeting Point: Emergency Meeting Point is outside the Main Gate
First Aid Kits are located in the office and crib room
Emergency Eye Wash Station is located in the office
The office is located in front of the Non-Ferrous Shed
Fire Extinguishers are located in the non-ferrous shed and in the office building.
Occupational Health and Safety
OneStop Metal Recycling has a target of zero incidents and injuries:

OneStop Metal Recycling is committed to providing a safe work environment for its employees, contractors, and visitors.
The following must be strictly adhered to while on site:
Site Speed Limit is 10 kph
Any Injuries and Incidents to be reported to management
Be aware of moving trucks, forklifts and other machinery and vehicles
Do not approach machinery from any position until radio or visual contact has been made with operator and machine has been made safe (machine stationary, engine idling or shutdown with attachments grounded and Park Brake applied or Hydraulics Disengaged)
Leave any areas you are working in in a clean and tidy state
Ask for assistance when lifting of heavy items is required. We have Forklifts including Man Cage available if required
Report any hazards or unsafe practices to Management immediately.
In Case of an Emergency
If you identify an emergency (e.g., fire):
Alert other people in the immediate area
Advise the weighbridge office or management. Phone 000 if outside assistance is required. (Office phone 6272 8490. UHF CH20)
Proceed to the Emergency Meeting Point if safe to do so (outside main gate)
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in the toilets, lunchroom, or any office buildings. Smoking is not permitted within three metres of doorways.
If you need to smoke, consider others and your work obligations. Use ash trays provided and ensure there are no flammables in the area (e.g., rubbish). ENSURE ALL BUTTS ARE EXTINGUISHED.
Alcohol and Other Drugs
OneStop Metal Recycling (TAS) Pty Ltd is committed to achieving a healthy and safe working environment for our employees. As such, we recognise that alcohol, drug and other substance abuse by employees can have serious adverse effects on the health and safety of themselves and others.
As such, all employees and contractors must not:
present for work under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.
consume alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol while working.
use or possess drugs at any time in any workplace.
drive a vehicle or machinery under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
OneStop has a zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
If a co-worker suspects another to be affected by drugs or alcohol, they must inform the Manager immediately. No employee will be allowed to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol at any time.
Employees or contractors taking prescription medicine that may have an adverse effect when driving or operating machinery or which may be detected during a drug and alcohol test are required to notify their manager.
Any breach of this policy will be regarded as serious misconduct.
All issues pertaining to these matters shall be kept strictly confidential.
Reporting
All hazards, incidents and injuries must be reported, no matter how small, to management.
ALWAYS REPORT INCIDENTS AND INJURIES IMMEDIATELY!
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Task specific PPE is to be worn when required by everyone on site.
Minimum PPE requirements for operators and truck drivers are:
Steel Cap Safety boots
Long Sleeve Hi Vis shirt
Long trousers
Minimum PPE requirements, when outside the office area, for office employees, contractors and visitors are:
Grinding/cutting: safety glasses or face shield, hearing protection and gloves
Plasma cutting: face shield and gloves
Working with chemicals: appropriate PPE to suit task ie: pvc gloves, coveralls. Refer to MSDS or ask your manager if you are unsure.
Hand Safety
Injuries to hands and fingers can be minimised by wearing gloves. Gloves should be worn at all times when performing manual tasks.
Housekeeping
A clean and tidy environment is a major factor in maintaining a safe workplace and preventing incident and injuries.
At OneStop Metal Recycling, housekeeping is a part of daily work, and everyone has a responsibility to assist.
Remember:
Clean up as you go
Don’t leave your area untidy for the next person
Do not ignore a trip hazard, rectify the problem
Place scrap into appropriate bins or area after weighing
Plant and Equipment Isolation
The isolation procedure is designed to protect people. All plant and equipment, prior to undertaking service or maintenance work is to be isolated.
OUT OF SERVICE tags are Yellow and Black and may be used by any employee to indicate that plant or equipment must not be used. Report the use of the OUT OF SERVICE tag to management.
Environmental Responsibilities
OneStop Metal Recycling is committed to pursuing a high standard of environmental management.
The following must be strictly adhered to while on site:
Ensuring containers of hazardous substances are sound and stored properly
Contain and clean up spills immediately & report them to management – Oil spill kits are in the yellow wheely bins.
There are waste bins at various locations around the site. Please ensure rubbish is placed in these or removed from site. There are also Hydrocarbon Waste Bins. These are for oily or greasy rags and gloves, grease cartridges and products that have been used to clean up oil spills. The Hydrocarbon Waste Bins are wheely bins with red lids.
